Middle East Ceasefire

Kofi Annan has received little support for his call for an immediate ceasefire in Lebanon. Arguments against a ceasefire (surprise surprise led by Bush) revolve around the fact that a ceasefire would not be sustainable and do little to resolve the root of the conflict. Well, killing almost 1000 civilians, injuring thousands more and making 1 million homeless is not the way to resolve anything either, and is making things worse.

The wellbeing of innocent civilians should be the number one priority regarding any political decision. A ceasefire would, at the least, allow humanitarian aid to get to people safely. The 'Stop the Bloodshed' Ceasefire Campaign has launched a petition to be delivered to the UN Security Council this week. Please consider signing it. War only happens because we let it happen. http://www.ceasefirecampaign.org/
