Where's the Accountability...?
Excerpt:
"...Words may be our most civil weapons of change, when they connect to actions of sacrifice, or good will, but they have no grace or power without bold clarity. So, if you'll bear with me, borrowing a line from Bob Dylan, "Let us not talk falsely now--the hour is getting late."
Global warming
Massive pollution
Non-stop U.S. war in Iraq
Attacks on civil liberties under the banner of war on terror
Military spending
You and I, U.S. taxpayers, spend 1 1/2 billion dollars on an Iraq-war-'focused' military everyday, while social needs cry out.
Health care
Education
Public transit
Environmental protections
Affordable housing
Job training
Public investment
And, levy building.
We depend largely for information on these issues from media industries, driven by the bottom line to such an extent that the public interest becomes uninteresting.
And should we speak truth, we stand against government efforts to intimidate or legislate in the service of censorship. Whether under the guise of a Patriot Act or any other benevolent-sounding rationale for the age-old game of shutting down dissent by discouraging independent thinking and preventing progressive social change.
The most effective forms of de facto censorship are pre-emptive. Systemically, we are encouraged to keep our heads down, out of the line of fire--to avoid the danger, god forbid, that someone in the White House, on Capitol Hill, or a media blow-hard might take a shot at us.
But, as a practical matter, most of the limits on creative expression and other forms of free speech come from self-censorship, where the mechanism of corporate clout offers carrots and brandishes sticks. We avoid a conflict before the conflict materializes. We reach for the carrots and stay out of range of sticks....
...What is impeachment? It's not a Democratic versus Republican event. Not if used responsibly. If the House of Representatives votes to impeach this president, is he thrown out of office? No, he is not thrown out of office. That is not what impeachment is. Impeachment is the opportunity to proceed with accountability and give our elected senators, democratic and republican, the power to pursue a thorough investigation. The power to put the truth on the table. Mothers and fathers are losing their kids to horrifying deaths in this war every single day. Horrible deaths. Horrible maimings. Were crimes committed in enlisting the support of our country in this decision to go to war? For the moment we're living the most spineless of scenarios; where the hawks abused impeachment eight years ago, now, the rest of us politely refuse to use it today. Let's give the whistle-blowers cover, let's get the subpoenas out there, and then, one by one, put this administration under oath. And then, if the crimes of "Treason, bribery, or other high crimes and misdemeanors" are proven, do as Article 2, Section 4 of the United States Constitution provides, and remove "the President, Vice President and...civil officers of the United States" from office. If the Justice Department then sees fit to bunk them up with Jeff Skilling, so be it. So...look, if we attempt to impeach for lying about a blowjob, yet accept these almost certain abuses without challenge, we become a cum-stain on the flag we wave. "

Energy Readings & Soul Guidance - Moving to the Next Level
There are those, including myself, whose work it is to be a channel or medium accessing information from the energetic and higher realms. Know that this is information you always have access to yourself. However there are times for all of us when confusion, doubt and fear overwhelms us, clouding our clarity, making it so that we can’t hear our own inner guidance or feel our own intuition, or access the information we need to access. That’s where a reader can help, to help you see your true self when you can’t see it, to remind you who you are when you have forgotten, to bring through the words from your guides that you aren’t hearing. The information is always exactly what you most need to hear at the time. What you do with the information is up to you.
Don’t ever become dependent on readers for guidance, or think that is the only way you can get guidance from the higher realms. You are your own best source of information. If you have a problem or an issue that is on your mind or in your heart, take 5 minutes to sit in a quiet space. Breathe deeply in and out a few times. Ask that you be connected to your highest truth, love and light. Ask your higher self, guides and angels to be with you. Quiet your mind, think about your issue or question, and see what comes. Get out your journal. Start writing. See what comes. If you are doing this and still there is a sense that you aren’t getting the whole picture or message, you have a choice. Let some time go by and see if the situation resolves itself or you might feel that it’s a good time to get a soul reading as a gift to yourself. Some people get one once a year, others every few months, whatever works for you. Let yourself be guided to a reader who looks like they themselves are living their truth, who is aligned to a vibration that feels compatible with yours. There are readers who tune in to your fears, doubts or desires and present that to you as their reading of your truth, or worse project their own issues into the reading blurring their perspective. That is not helpful and never makes you feel good in the long-term! For example, a client was told by a reader she briefly encountered that a business venture she was thinking of wasn't a good idea. After tuning in I saw that my client had some deep yet natural fears about starting her own business. The fears needed to be addressed and acknowledged which allowed her to understand her hesitation in moving forward. This freed her to start planning her business with renewed excitement, knowing her fears were making sure she moved into it as prepared as possible. Her fears had a purpose, they were not in this case a wrong way sign!
Ask your guides or a trusted friend to recommend someone who will channel information directly from your highest truth and authentic self. A reading should always feel ‘right’ in the pit of your stomach. Sometimes truth can be challenging to hear but we are all naturally attuned to our deepest truth so when you hear it or read it there should be a sense of ‘yes, this feels right and true’.
May you always be guided to the guidance that is right for you. If you have any questions about readings at all, please feel free to email me or visit my site: http://www.danamrkich.com/

Dec 5 Full Moon Gemini
Something comes full circle, or perhaps a chapter ends, in the realm of communication. Maybe you finally have that closure talk with someone, or create closure in your own mind about an issue that has been churning round and round. It’s time to make a decision, it’s time to stop battling between two forces or choices, it’s time to pick a path and go with it come what may. Alternatively it might require working out how to integrate two seemingly opposite paths – can you have commitment and freedom, security and adventure? The answer is yes: own all of these qualities within yourself and you will find your outer reality forms to match your new inner perspective.
Dec 6 Saturn Retrograde Leo
Saturn is the disciplinarian of the zodiac, making sure we are grounded in reality regarding any goals, projects or fantasies we have committed to creating in our life. When he goes retrograde you find yourself faced with the nuts and bolts of anything you have in your life that hasn’t been secured properly. Is your foundation solid? Can the structure support the great vision you want to build? Wherever Leo is in your chart (see http://www.astro.com/ for free chart) is the area that will naturally arise for attention duing this retrograde period (until April 19 2007) with the following words in mind: stability, commitment, structure, discipline, responsibility.
Dec 7-9 – Alliance for a New Humanity: The Human Forum, Puerto Rico

Dec 10 – Human Rights Day
On December 10, 1948 the General Assembly of the United Nations adopted and proclaimed the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. Today is a great day to remind ourselves of this declaration and ask ourselves: what are we doing about it?? It’s all good on paper but in reality how many of these articles are being enforced and ensured? The UN has created a wonderful ideal but until they genuinely own and use their power, and we all do our bit to support them and other like-minded organizations, it remains just that: a wonderful ideal. The time to be true to this declaration on behalf of all humanity is now. Read the Universal Declaration of Human Rights here: http://www.unhchr.ch/udhr/lang/eng.htm
Dec 20/21 New Moon Sagittarius
Dec 21 Summer/Winter Solstice
The New Moon in Sagittarius occurs this year right on the cusp of a powerful day: the Winter/Summer Solstice. This is the shortest (Northern Hemisphere) and longest (Southern Hemisphere) day of 2006. It’s a day for new beginnings, and a turning point in a chapter of your life. Sagittarius represents the adventurer in all of us, the part of us that yearns for travel, exploration and higher learning, whether it is in our outer or inner world. He is constantly striving to be more, see more and experience as much as he can. He is also the archer – he sets his mark and goes for it. He is a visionary who puts his dreams into action. There are 10 days left until 2007 – take this time to write your Vision list for 2007. What dreams do you have for yourself? What do you want to learn? In which area would you like to grow? How can you make it happen? Good luck!

Funny Story
Here's to all the Stanley's and Steve's of this world....
George Bush goes to a primary school to talk to the kids to get a little PR. After his talk he offers question time. One little boy puts up his hand and George asks him his name.
"Stanley," responds the little boy.
"And what is your question, Stanley?"
"I have 4 questions: First, why did the USA invade Iraq without the support of the UN? Second, why are you President when Al Gore got more votes? Third, whatever happened to Osama Bin Laden? Fourth, why are we so worried about gay-marriage when 1/2 of all Americans don't have health insurance?"
Just then, the bell rings for recess. George Bush informs the kiddies that they will continue after recess. When they resume George says, "OK, where were we? Oh, that's right: question time. Who has a question?"
Another little boy puts up his hand. George points him out and asks him his name. "Steve," he responds.
"And what is your question, Steve?" "Actually, I have 6 questions. First, why did the USA invade Iraq without the support of the UN? Second, why are you President when Al Gore got more votes? Third, whatever happenedto Osama Bin Laden? Fourth, why are we so worried
about gay marriage when 1/2 of all Americans don't have health insurance? Fifth, why did the recess bell go off 20 minutes early? And sixth, what the hell happened to Stanley?"

Howard Government 'frozen in time'
October 30, 2006 10:42am
- Reuters, AFP, AAP
"THE Government has been urged again to act on climate change on the eve of the release of a ground-breaking report that says a failure to act will devastate the environment and damage the world economy...
Labor's environment spokesman Anthony Albanese said the report concluded that early action would be far cheaper than waiting until the full effects of climate change were felt.
Mr Albanese said Australia must immediately ratify the Kyoto Protocol, introduce a national emissions trading scheme, increase the renewable energy target and reassess transport systems and building sustainable cities.
"Climate change is the greatest challenge facing not just Australia but the global community, and we have a government that refuses to take action," he said.
"The Howard Government is frozen in time while the globe warms around it.
"It is just an absolute abrogation of responsibility that they have."

The Soulmate Reunions
As we move into the energies of our next evolutionary cycle many are re-uniting now with their twin souls, or divine complements, with whom they are destined to create a conscious relationship; one that usually has a planetary purpose for connecting as well as a personal purpose. It is a sacred union for a higher purpose, and is taking us into a new paradigm of relationships.
I would like you all to know about a new book just released written by the wonderful Ariadne Green, shaman and good soul friend, that offers much enlightening information about these soulmate unions.
The book, "Divine Complement: The Spiritual Terrain of Soulmate Relationships" is available on Amazon. For more info please visit: http://www.ariadnegreen.com/
Quite timely, yesterday and today the Sun, Moon, Mars and Venus all moved into the same space in the sky in Scorpio. (It's very rare to have a quadruple conjunction like this.) Mars and Venus together represent the masculine and feminine, as do the Sun and the Moon. With them all joining together like this in the sign of Scorpio ruling transformational relationships, something big is happening in the Cosmos to create/support the space for our new paradigm of relating. How exciting!
Thank you to all my soulmates that I've connected with so far. You all play a part in my awakening/remembering journey, I feel very blessed to have that and to be aware of it. Much love always xox

Climate Change
Good on Australia's Sunrise program (Seven Network). They have launched an online petition to stop our government from phasing out solar electricity rebates. In these times of climate crisis, the use of solar energy should be encouraged not reduced. I believe that humanity united, with the help of the emerging conscious media, will help save the world from the nutters currently running it!

An Inconvenient Truth
If you haven't already seen it, please take a couple of hours to watch Al Gore's film An Inconvenient Truth. Bottom line is, if we don't do something about our climate crisis now the prediction for the Earth is beyond gloomy. It is all over red rover for the big blue planet we have come to know and love. Done. Finished. The positive news is that we can do something to change the ending and hopefully live happily ever after, but we have to act now. Embrassingly Australia is only 1 of 2 industrialised nations not to be adhering to the Kyoto Protocol, created to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. Apparently Bush and Howard fear the effect this would have on our economy, but A) there are plenty of environmentally healthy alternative ways to create wealth and B) What use is a healthy economy if there is no Earth left? At this point I don't think we can move to another planet - word out in the Universe is that we are REALLY bad tenants!!

Wellbeing Manifesto
Is a new political system possible, one that is genuinely working for the people, in harmony with the needs of society, country and our environment? I believe it is, and so do the people at The Australia Institute who have come up with the Wellbeing Manifesto.
Here's an excerpt from their site: Many Australians feel that the political system has let them down, and that governments are not responding to their real concerns. We seem to have lost sight of a vision for a better society and to have entrusted our future to wherever the market takes us.
This website presents a new manifesto, one that takes as its starting point the belief that governments in Australia should be devoted to improving our individual and social wellbeing.

Coalition of the Wicked and Stupid
Surprise, surprise - the Iraq war has increased terrorism worldwide, writes Phillip Adams
The Australian Newspaper, Sep 26 2006
(included here with permission of Phillip Adams)
"WITHIN days of 9/11 Susan Sontag gave the world some famous advice. "Let's by all means grieve together. But let's not be stupid together."
Fearing a stupendously stupid response by Washington and Canberra, I began my next column with Sontag's quote, which provoked for me, as for her, the most enraged reaction in a long career."

The Power of Humility
Barbara Whitfield first contacted me a couple of years ago in response to one of my articles, asking if she could reference it in an upcoming book due to be released in 2006. I could feel Barbara’s immense knowledge and compassion for others from the email alone and that, combined with the title of the book “The Power of Humility” was enough for me to know, yes this is a book I would be happy and honoured to be a part of.
Barbara sent me a copy of the finished manuscript earlier this year, with a request to provide an endorsement if I felt guided to do so, once I’d finished reading it. As I browsed the content and author details I knew it was no accident that I was being asked to read a book written by four of America’s top experts on emotional healing (including issues related to childhood trauma, addiction and inner child healing), titled: The Power of Humility: Choosing Peace over Conflict in Relationships. All of these areas were highlights of my own emotional healing process, and issues I’d particularly been getting to the root of over the last few years. My guides, as usual, were making sure I faced every nook and cranny of my self.
The book deals with the unhealthy patterns we repeat, within ourselves, and with each other, until we take responsibility for our healing and make the connection with our Heart and True Self. Of particular interest to me was the section that talks about taking a “Spiritual Bypass’. As someone who has been spiritually aware from a very young age I have had the benefit, and challenge, of seeing most things in my life from a higher perspective. The benefit of being ‘awake’ is that you usually know why certain things happen. The challenge is, unless you are in touch with your feelings, you have a tendency to repress, avoid and deny those feelings. Just because you know the higher reason for something doesn’t mean your natural instinct isn’t to feel angry or betrayed or hurt, yet many people bypass those feelings en route to ‘everything happens for a reason’ land. When we don’t give voice to our feelings they stay hidden within us, subconsciously affecting us and coming out in unexpected and inappropriate ways. A certain level of spiritual evolvement doesn’t automatically bring on emotional growth and understanding.
The Power of Humility will help you to see how you may be re-creating pain and conflict over and over again by reacting to situations from your unresolved stuff, and how you can respond to life in much more healthy and authentic ways.
Dana’s Endorsement (as in The Power of Humility, page 2)
"Reading The Power of Humility has left me with a feeling of peace, and that all is well. I have had the experience of childhood trauma and know what it is like to repeat unhealthy patterns until you take responsibility for your healing and make the connection with your Heart and True Self.
The triangle levels is powerful information, reminding me that until we make a conscious effort to move on to the freedom of Level 2 we live with the painful conflict of a Level 1 triangle everyday in our own head. As someone who moved into spiritual awakening at a young age I also took a "Spiritual Bypass," which you explain so well. This term highlighted for me a lesson I have been working on for the past few years -- that a certain level of spiritual evolvement doesn't automatically bring on emotional growth. It is a profound part of the journey to finally allow ourself to be with our feelings, hear our own true voice, and experience a connection with our True Self, Higher Self and Higher Power that feels deeper and more real every day. Readers will be helped on their life's journey by reading this book."

Tribute to Steve Irwin
Steve was one of my Pisces brothers and from Australia so he is extra special to me. Most Pisceans are a bit left of center, here to show the world another way, and he definitely did that. This planet is a much better place having had Steve in it for 44 years. I am certain he will continue to do his great work from the higher realms. This week we have a Lunar Eclipse in Pisces, a time of letting go, a time of unexpected yet destined events, endings that create new insight and healing. I hope humanity continue to learn from Steve after his death, as much as we did from his life. Thank you Steve for your life, you will be greatly missed. Sending much love and blessings to your family. xox

Middle East Ceasefire
The wellbeing of innocent civilians should be the number one priority regarding any political decision. A ceasefire would, at the least, allow humanitarian aid to get to people safely. The 'Stop the Bloodshed' Ceasefire Campaign has launched a petition to be delivered to the UN Security Council this week. Please consider signing it. War only happens because we let it happen. http://www.ceasefirecampaign.org/

Welcome!
Hi all,
Welcome to my blogspot where I'll post every now and then on whatever happens to be my theme of the moment. Right now it's all about getting an agent and publisher for my first book!! The whole process is quite a journey and my admiration for anyone who's done it has gone up by about a thousand fold. I keep hearing the message 'don't give up'. Like I could if I wanted to. Anyone who was born with a need to write, or make a difference, or whatever your calling or passion in life is, knows that as frustrating and challenging as the journey can be at times, some form of insanity (or sanity?) within keeps pushing you to keep going. Everything happens for a reason - and everything happens at the right time. It's one thing to know this, and it's another thing to live it. This seems to be a lesson the universe really wants me to learn - patience has never been my strong suit but I'm starting to get the hang of it. For added support I'm asking the writing angels to help me and am repeating the mantra...I am being connected right now with the perfect agent and the perfect publisher. Prayers appreciated!
Sending lots of good vibes to everyone out there who is taking steps to vision their dream awake - anything is do-able. Keep going.
