Some
of you feel more crappy than happy in this New Year. I want to talk
about that because when one is feeling low, happiness and all this talk
about 'forward momentum' can make you feel even lower, isolated and
questioning what is 'wrong' with you.
It takes a lot of courage
to feel ones feelings, and to express them. Nothing is wrong with
having feelings, no matter what they are. Feelings are messengers.
We can talk to them, and receive guidance from them. Journal with
Doubting Dave, Sad Sarah, or Unmotivated Uma. You will surprise yourself
with what comes through.
Many sensitive, awake people are so
attuned on an inner level to energy that it is easy to feel down more
than up at times. Feelings are felt more acutely - not just ours, but
those of the collective. We are also finely tuned to what our reality on
a higher dimension is like, and so anything involving a lower density -
fears, doubts, worries, feeling not good enough etc - is absolutely
suffocating. Especially now. Especially as we enter more and more higher
vibrational energy here on Earth.
It sounds like a cliche,
but I highly recommend starting either a daily Happiness Jar or
Gratitude Journal. It gets you on the 'upswing' at least once every 24
hours, rather than sinking in the down.
Just know everyone has
their moments, and I try to honestly share about the downs as well as
the ups. Keep on trucking, we are all in this together x

What is my purpose?
One
of the most common questions I get asked is "What is my purpose?"
Sometimes our purpose is just to be who we are, to shine our light wherever and however needed. Other times it is more of a lifelong calling, urging us to express our creativity or to teach or build or whatever it may be. Then there are times when our purpose - or at least a huge part of it - is connected to a set of circumstances that may not have happened yet. Many a tragedy, injustice or obstacle has become the catalyst for change, triggering social movements, amendments to laws, and voices speaking out.
Too often, especially in the spiritual arena, something happens and the first thing we do is look in the rear view mirror as to what issue in us may have caused this situation. Today however, with a new evolutionary cycle upon us, things are changing. While the need for inner clearing is still a factor in some situations, in others an event or crisis may actually be better understood by asking it: what might this be a catalyst for? Is this a trigger for me to change something? Is it a push for me to initiate change on a greater level, on a community level? Is it an opportunity to practice, and then share with others, a new way of healing or living?
In this past week my friend Dean is on a wave that was started by him simply sharing his truth and his heart on his personal facebook page. From that moment on, a movement started and it is clear that some force is guiding and supporting him to be the face and voice for much needed change when it comes to how our firefighters are treated when seeking the disability pension they are entitled to after being medically retired due to PTSD, depression and anxiety.
Since his initial post, not only firefighters, but all branches of emergency services along with ex-military are sharing their similar stories. There is a quote by Victor Hugo that goes along the lines of 'Nothing can stop an idea whose time has come'. Sometimes you seek out your mission, and other times, at the perfect, right time, your mission finds you.
If you would like to support Dean, a link to his petition is here.

This New Awareness can feel Depressing
Video Version here
I can't remember the last time the collective energy felt so heavy. An analogy came through a week or so ago that we were being 'squeezified' in order to become 'juicified', and the suggestion was to focus on the juice when you're feeling emotionally and energetically squeezed. (that post is on my blog here) Well that suggestion applies a hundred fold today!!
You may feel like the walls are closing in on you - and on the world. Some may even feel like the 'darkness' is winning or that all your healing work has been for nothing. Yet really it is just that the 'darkness' is becoming more obvious, both within us and outside us - 'darkness' in this context is that which we have been unaware of.
More of us are becoming aware of the multiple ways in which we have been restricted as a humanity, and the ways in which we have been restricting ourselves personally. It feels like *@!# because life is not supposed to be restrictive. We are here to remember our truth, our power and what we are capable of creating. We are here to embody who we really are so that we can live free of beliefs, influences and systems that have kept us disempowered.
Today is a good day to remind yourself of how far you have come, of who you have become compared to years ago. It is a good day to remind yourself of how far the world has come, and how many people are truly awakening. It is easy to throw our hands up and say I give up, what's the point? But then where will we be?
All this new awareness can ironically trigger a lot of depression, because we feel at a loss as to what we can do to truly help so many situations. So when you do become aware of something, ask to be put on the 'solution' train track. Later that day you may find yourself doing something as simple and unrelated as watching a hilarious video clip - but that is enough to get you out of your slump and re-connect you to your flow, and suddenly you feel better about the problem you had that morning, or you feel more motivated or clear about how to tackle a greater, even global, issue. It is a good day to watch, read or do something fun, positive, empowering or invigorating that connects you with the 'juice'.
How are you all feeling?

The Blanket of Depression
Many
people think of depression as sadness, but depression has many faces
including numbness, overwhelm and inexplicable anxiety. While there can
be many factors at play, including chemical and hormonal imbalances,
nutrition issues and lack of vitamin D, when we look at the energetic
and emotional causes depression is like a big, heavy, grey blanket
covering some emotion or aspect of us that for some
reason we have been unable to freely feel or face. This can include
repressed anger, frustrated passion, or denied expression of some part
of you - whether that means your present adult self, past self of
10/20/more years ago or even going back to your child self that is still
alive and well within you often with some unfinished business!
What do you want to express that you haven’t been allowed to or had the opportunity to?
What are you passionate about?
What makes you feel excited?
What makes you feel angry?
What do you regret doing or not doing?
What do you regularly (or always) deny yourself?
What would you spend more time doing if you were given an extra day (or hour) a week?
Just allowing yourself to think about, or write down, the answers to these questions can start to make you feel better because whatever it is that is under that blanket feels it is finally being heard, and is being given the opportunity to express itself. If you can take some action from the answers that come, even better.
Sending some sunshine vibes to all out there that need it xo

Resting in Peace...without actually dying
A few people over the past week have reached out, letting me know they
feel like ending their life. When a large amount of departing density - old
emotions, memories and fears of our yesterdays - is leaving our body, it can
feel incredibly heavy, overwhelming, suffocating and isolating. We can feel all
alone even in a crowded room, especially in a crowded room.
When you are in a place
of darkness it is important to have a pinprick of light pop up right when you
need it, letting you know that you can keep going, that there is air up ahead.
An email from someone who found a pinprick of light today right when she needed
it, offers a pinprick of light to others. She read something today that gave
her peace after only moments before being in a very dark place, and she wrote
(repeated here with her permission): "With depression it is not easy to
aim for happiness. I think peace has to come first and peace is easier to find
when your in a dark place. I am resting in peace now, without actually
dying."
If you are in a dark
place right now, know that you are not alone and do not have to go through this
alone. Most countries have a Lifeline crisis number to call, where you can
connect with an experienced counsellor for free. If you don't know if there is
one in your country please message me and I'll find out for you. You can call a
friend, post here, or ask to please be shown something right now that will help
you.
The energies right now
are full of love, kindness, gentleness and compassion. If you aren't feeling
this, that's ok. There are others around you ready to listen, to take your
hand, to help you through whatever you are feeling. If you feel in panic or
anxiety, take a breath and then take another. If all you can manage right now
is one breath at a time then just do that. It is enough.
