The energies have been hard and heavy lately. All our shadow stuff is coming up, along with any distaste and resistance we have to the shadow within ourselves and others. The shadow by it’s very nature is all that we have disowned. It is all that we find hard to accept and digest – the good, the bad and the ugly. Why would something good be in our shadow? Well for some of us it is just as hard to accept our power, courage, beauty, talent and assertiveness, as it is to accept the parts of us that are weak, vulnerable, disorganised, procrastinating, scared or controlling. Yet this is why we are here. To accept all these parts of ourselves, because every single bit is what makes us who we are.

There was a beautiful Chrysocolla crystal in the shop last week. It was like a large, palm-sized, smooth, shiny turquoisey-blue green rock. One small corner of it was chipped. Yet that made me love it all the more. I felt like this crystal represented how we are. We all have parts of us that are chipped or wounded, aspects of ourselves that have been hurt or fear being hurt, qualities within us we don’t like or understand. But just like this naturally chipped Chrysocolla we are as Nature and Spirit made us. We are all perfect in our imperfection.

It can be really hard to accept parts of our shadow as it raises up to face us. However, our resistance to it makes the process harder still. It sends us spiralling into fear and anxiety. We just want to spend the whole day under the doona. Panic ensues, we feel like we can’t breathe, like we’re being dunked underneath water again and again. If this has been your reality lately, hello, some part of your shadow has come a’knocking and you are trying to postpone answering the door! Give it up. Get out of bed and see who’s there. You might actually end up liking what you see.

Shining a light on all that we most avoid or resent, by loving it and embracing it with compassion, allows it to be seen in a new way. The irony is that while some of the stuff in our shadow is the worst of us, it is also some of the best of us. We hide from our power because we’re scared we won’t know what to do with it, or that it will somehow hurt us or others, but by bringing it to the light we can use it in an enlightened way! Keeping it in the shadow will ensure it will have the very effect we most fear. Isn’t that the irony! Our shadow most often is revealed to us by another’s behaviour. What is it about someone lately that is really pushing your buttons, triggering your worst fears, or sending you into anger, frustration or impatience? That very behaviour is a mirror for the part of your shadow that is seeking acknowledgement and acceptance.

The time has come to bring all of who we are out into the light. We don’t have to be ashamed or scared of aspects of ourselves anymore. They no longer have to be hidden or shoved away into dark, deep corners. Just for today, take your whole self out of the closet. Face it as it is, and decide to love it as it is. Do the same with the people you encounter. If it feels good, do it again tomorrow. You have nothing to lose, and a whole lot more of yourself to gain.

Dear Dana,

Recently I read Joe Vitale's book Zero Limits. I was inspired to say the I LOVE YOU mantra as much as possible. To increase my focus on this I started to write I LOVE YOU I LOVE YOU I CAN DO IT on sticky notes. I put these notes all over my house and cars.
Some results of this are that my wife Jackie and I have a much better relationship.
She was real happy when I bought her 87 year old mother hearing aids so she could hear. We bought her a new tv with closed captioning so she could understand better what she was watching. At each step of the way her mother said " Don't waste your money. I am just an old bag" After she got these things she really appreciated it.
One problem she drives an old falling apart rusted 1998 Ford Escort and is not too happy with it. I said I LOVE YOU 1 or 2 thousand times and coughed up some money to buy her a scion xB 2008. It is much improved model with a 2.5 liter camery engine. It is a head turner with a lot of zip. I thought it will give her a bit of a paradigm shift. Maybe she will decide to live well for another 15 years. What I learned from Joe Vitale and Dr Hew Len seems to be working.
Right now here in Pendleton Ore a cowboy town in Eastern Oregon I am sensing a consciousness shift. Many people around me seem to be getting better in different ways.

9 Nov – New Moon Scorpio
Ah, how timely. Just as we’re discussing the shadow here we have a new moon in Scorpio – the sign of transformation! This is a perfect time to surrender to whatever process of change is occurring in your life. Scorpio is represented by three symbols: the scorpion, the eagle and the phoenix. The Scorpion part of us can get suspicious of change, it is always at the ready to attack and defend itself should someone come along and say: the way you are isn’t working, it’s time to have a little shift. The Eagle part of us is a little more enlightened. It uses change as an opportunity for greater freedom, to expand its wings, and fly into new situations with wisdom and higher perspective. The Phoenix is the King of Change. He has no problem burning down a whole building if it has served its purpose, knowing he will rise from the ashes, bigger, better, faster, stronger. This weekend it’s your choice as to which Scorpio symbol to use, to guide any transformational processes you may be going through.

24 Nov – Full Moon Gemini/Uranus Direct in 14 degrees Pisces
Today’s full moon coincides with Uranus, planet of the unexpected, turning direct after 5 months retrograde motion. We’ll start feeling this at least two weeks ahead of time. Anything could happen from sudden breakthroughs to breakdowns. I’m getting the image of the tail of a dragon that started swirling around the time Uranus started its retrograde phase (June 24). Today’s the day it goes ka-choo, smack, knocking all the chess pieces off the board. “It’s time for a new game,” says the dragon. “I told you it was coming, but no-body listens to me do they?” Listen to the dragon. He may breathe fire, but that’s only when he feels unheard. Ride the tail and let him toss you where you’re meant to be. He has a great sense of direction and good aim, you’ll like where you land – eventually.

11 October – New Moon Libra

A New Moon in Libra is the perfect time to address any imbalance issues in the realm of relationship. Libra calls for nothing less than total harmony and equilibrium, so if you are doing more giving than receiving, or more receiving than giving, have a think about what you need to do to balance the scales a bit more. Libra also rules the planet Venus. Today she finally comes out of the shadow of her recent retrograde period. If a relationship has gone through some upheaval over the last few months now is the time for the dust to clear, allowing you to see what it has all been for. For some, it is clear that you can no longer move forward with that relationship in the way it has been going. It is either time to let it go and move on, or make some changes allowing a renewal of commitment built on a sturdier foundation. With Venus involved the key here is self-love and value: what does your heart truly want and deserve? Allow your heart to have it.

12 October – 1 November – Mercury Retrograde Scorpio

With miscommunications happening left, right and centre, issues with cars and computers already starting, mail gone awry and people calling the wrong number, it’s no news that Mercury has started his regular backward trek. All we can do is ride through this period as best as possible. Mercury is the little trickster of the zodiac as well as the communication planet so he likes to play with us sometimes. Don’t expect schedules to go as planned, have a chillaxed approach if someone forgets an appointment with you or you find yourself running late everywhere you go. Back up your hard drives and double check to whom you are sending messages before you hit send! It’s also a great time to revise any documents, manuscripts, contracts or negotiations that were put in place some time ago and now need reviewing. This time will pass soon enough and come November we can all go sailing smoothly forward once again!


26 October – Full Moon Taurus

It can’t get much yummier than a full moon in Taurus! Taurus rules all the good things in life. Think of a decadent Roman emperor surrounded by a sumptuous banquet of delicious food, the finest wine, the most beautiful women, musicians playing, people dancing. That was, for him, Pleasure City. So, what’s Pleasure City for you? Imagine it, then go and do it this weekend. Whatever for you is pure indulgence, total bliss and pampering, let yourself immerse in it and do so without guilt – enjoy every single moment knowing it’s good for you. A happy you means happiness for all around you.

Urth.TV New Clips

Introducing the World Future Council Series! Each week Urth.TV will feature new clips from this series on the Dana Mrkich channel.

The World Future Council was born from an idea held by founder Jakob von Uexkull for a global council made up of wise elders, thinkers, pioneers and young leaders. Officially launched in May 2007, 50 Council Members came together to address key issues including environment, peace and human rights, and specifically to bridge the gap between ideas and action. The World Future Council Series is a collection of clips that will appear on Urth.TV over the coming months, each introducing a Council Member. Each Councillor was asked three questions: 1. What is the most important issue that the WFC must deal with? 2. What one action can the WFC do to generate change most effectively? 3. How can you personally contribute to the WFC’s goals? As we enter September buckle up, hold on and get ready for a particularly stomach churning part of the rollercoaster ride that is life these days! Bit of a pre-warning – this part of the ride might make you feel a little giddy and queasy as it hurtles you at rapid speed through dark, scary tunnels. It will trigger any little or big fears you have about life, love, change, death, birth, transformation, movement and stepping into a greater part of your true self and new reality. You might feel a little vulnerable as all that seemed familiar is now falling (or being thrown) out the window. We are going through (yet another) intense process of letting go that started with the Aug 28 Lunar Eclipse, to be followed by eventual renewal and rebirth, culminating in the Sep 11 Solar Eclipse. In the middle of that we have Pluto turning direct on Sep 7. On Sep 9 Venus follows him, going direct herself.

This period reminds me of a quote I once read: When God closes one door, he always opens another – but it’s hell in the hallway!!

Sep 7 – Pluto goes direct 26 degrees Sagittarius

If Pluto is hitting your chart you’ll know it. You got a sign a while ago saying it’s time to change - your job, relationship, self, home, friends, a habit or all of the above. You said I will, I will. Some time went by, and Pluto tapped you on the shoulder once again, this time a bit firmer saying it’s time to change. Okay okay, you started dragging your feet, knowing you had to, knowing you should, knowing things would be much better if you did, but ahhhh, it all seemed too scary and too hard. So you delayed. Now, Pluto is giving you one last chance. CHANGE he bellows, and lord help you if you don’t he will do it for you, and that isn’t going to be pretty!

Pluto is Mr Transformation, and if he wants to boot you out from an old reality that is no longer working and move you into a new reality that is more aligned with who you are, he will do it even if he has to drag you kicking and screaming!! So the key here to a peaceful transformation is to surrender to the process. Let go of whatever it is you are holding onto knowing it has served its purpose. Let in the new life that awaits. Grieve, mourn, cry, you are going through a death, the death of part of your self, the death of a part of your life. Yet celebrate, laugh and smile because the death is allowing you to step into something much bigger and better, the birth of a new part of you, and a new chapter in your life containing things you have never experienced before! It is like the labour process before a child is born. Yes it is hard, yes it hurts, but to stop halfway is not an option. Keep going, keep breathing, TRUST that your higher self knows exactly why this is all happening and that it's all happening in divine right timing and order, and Pluto will ensure you safe passage through the birth canal.


Sep 9 – Venus goes direct 16 degrees Leo

Finally Venus finishes her retrograde phase and turns forward again. The last six weeks have triggered all kinds of relationship trials, tests and issues. Relationships that were meant to end ended, and relationships that were challenged in order to get to a stronger place are now safely emerging out the other side of any turbulent seas. If a relationship had some uncertainty around it, you will know where you stand this week. The whole point was to help you get clear with your values: What do you truly need, want, desire and deserve in love and life? What do you need to do, and who do you need to become within yourself, in order to create those things? It’s a good time to take out your journal and answer these questions so that as Venus goes direct and sends you moving forward, you know what it is you want to be moving forward to!

Sep 11 – New Moon/Solar Eclipse 18 degrees Virgo

All the astro activity lately has been building up to this point: the Sep 11 Solar Eclipse. We have had our dark nights and stormy seas, and today we wake up with the dawn of a new day. We look outside our window and we see that we have landed in a very different space or place to where we were even a few short days, weeks or months ago. The transition may have been exciting, traumatic, bittersweet, devastating, joyous or any number of a hundred other emotions. Uranus is opposing the Sun during this Eclipse so any events will likely be unexpected or breaking free from the expected which can be so liberating. Towers may fall in our personal lives, and new towers may emerge. The irony of this happening on Sep 11. Yet from the dust will rise new hope and new energy just like the Phoenix rising from the ashes. We have earned the new state we find ourselves in and can proudly embrace all the aspects of ourselves we had to face to get here: wisdom, trust, owning our power and unique gifts, loving ourselves enough to be who we really are, knowing our strength and having the courage to change.

Sep 21 – Peace Day

In 1999 Jeremy Gilley embarked on a journey to get the UN to establish an international day of peace: a day of global ceasefire and non-violence. He documented his efforts and as a result created a spectacularly moving, emotional and inspirational film “Peace One Day” (I highly recommend it) which included the achievement of his goal: In 2001 the UN passed a resolution that established a fixed date in the calendar for Peace Day – September 21.

Sep 23 – Spring Equinox (Southern Hemisphere); Autumn Equinox (Northern Hemisphere)

An equinox happens only twice a year (the other time being March 21) when the duration of day and night are equal. (The word equinox means ‘equal night’.)

In the Southern Hemisphere today celebrates the Spring Equinox, marking the official end of the old year and the beginning of the new. Now is the time to plant seeds that will pave the way for new directions and bring the fruits of the coming season. The days are now bringing more light, and with more light comes more clarity, wisdom, illumination and forward movement into those areas that have until now had to be in a kind of hibernation period.

In the Northern Hemisphere today marks the Autumn Equinox. It is a sacred time to celebrate the end of summer, to give thanks for all you have received in the days past, and to prepare for a time of retreating inward for rest.

Sep 27 – Full Moon Aries

The emotional moon turns full in the fiery and impulsive sign of Aries. Today will see many in ‘act first think later’ mode for better or worse! At one end of the spectrum be patient on the road today and don’t indulge in any acts of road rage! At the other end your pioneering and passionate spirit might be all ablaze today as something comes to fruition at last!

28 July-11 Sep – Venus Retrograde in Virgo/Leo
Venus continues her backwards trek throughout August, primarily affecting those with natal planets around 2 degrees Virgo, or 2 degrees Pisces by opposition. You can generate a free chart at http://www.astro.com/ to find out if you’re in the firing line.
Venus rules love, relationships and money, and our sense of self-value. If any of these areas of your life are due for review then you can be sure that the Universal Examiner will be paying you a visit during this period. If you’re doing well and heading in the right direction, you’ll get a nice tick and he’ll be on his way. If not, you’ll be asked to pull up your boot straps and change a few things: face your relationship issues and do what you need to do, have some long overdue deep and meaningfuls about what you truly need, want and deserve, learn to finally love yourself after much avoidance, get sorted with your money issues etc. Love-wise, for some this change will come in the form of a renewed relationship, for others it will come in the realization that it’s time to let go and move on.

With the eclipses happening during the Venus Retrograde phase you can be sure that whatever is removed from your life right now has come to its timely end for a reason, and whatever is being turned upside down and inside out is actually being put back the right way round in alignment with the true needs of your soul. If Venus is making your emotional ocean a little choppy right now, get yourself a piece of rose quartz and have it near you day and night. Ask that the transition you are experiencing unfolds with as much love, grace and ease as possible. Ask for the rose quartz to help your heart with gentle healing, and ask your guides and angels to send you higher understanding so that you may move through this time with inner peace and blessings to all involved.

13 August – New Moon Leo
It’s a bit of strange New Moon. It’s happening in the sign of Leo while Venus is retrograde which is kind of like finally getting to the opening night of a play in which you’re the star, the curtain draws back, the audience is waiting, and you realize you have no idea what your lines are. Or you get a bout of stage fright and start asking yourself "Am I good enough? What if I can't do it? What if the audience walk out because I'm so terrible!!" All your motors might be revving right now making you feel like you are ready to throw yourself into some new creative project, romance, job or other undertaking. Meanwhile the pit crew are scrambling around you changing tyres and giving your engine a last once over before you are allowed to accelerate forward. Thank god for the pit crew though because they’re there to make sure that when you finally do catapult forward you are in as good a shape as possible, and know that you ARE good enough! So, get your vision boards happening and know that if things don’t take off till mid-Sep (Venus goes direct) or even mid-Oct (Venus comes out of her shadow period) it’s all okay, there is a reason!

28 August – Full Moon Pisces/Lunar Eclipse 4degrees Pisces
Lunar Eclipses, for better or worse, tend to be about the letting go of something, or someone: usually feminine or emotional in nature. There is often much sadness involved, yet a lunar eclipse can also be liberating. It can free us of that which it was time to say goodbye to. On a positive note many inner shifts happen at this time, allowing us to let go of old beliefs, behaviours and emotional or energetic obstacles that are blocking the full expression of our true essence. For some it will be intense, for others subtle, either way it will be powerful and ultimately beneficial for the higher purpose of your soul. Look to your natal chart to see where 4 degrees Pisces lies, or 4 degrees Virgo by opposition, (also check to see if you have planets in that area including a few degrees either side) to get some idea of what area of your life might be affected.

14 July – New Moon Cancer
Feelings might come up today related to the ways in which you nurture and nourish yourself and others. 28 July-11 Sep – Venus Retrograde in Virgo/Leo
“Venus Retrograde, you’re driving me crazy.” So went the lyrics in a song penned by my sister Kristina during one particularly vexing cycle. Every 18 months Venus the planet of love, money and all that we value does a backwards trip just to make sure we really, really get something that is affecting our relationships to these things. Now, before Venus sends you a little crazy, here’s a tip re the message she’s trying to send you: the quality of these relationships are directly affected by your sense of self-worth and self-love, also ruled by Venus. What are you worth? What do you deserve? Do you love yourself enough to give yourself your best possible life? Do you listen to your soul when she/he asks you for something?

With so many people now plugged in to the teachings of The Secret, and wanting to manifest lives filled with abundance, love and connected relationships, it’s so important to know this one thing: In order to really let in all the things you desire, in a lasting, healthy, positive way, your foundations of self-love, self-worth and self-value have to be strong enough to support them. If Venus is affecting your chart right now, (see if you have a natal planet around 3 degrees Virgo or within a few degrees either side: http://www.astro.com/ provide free charts) then these foundations are about to be tested or given a shake-up, particularly as far as love and money are concerned - the life areas that show us most clearly how these foundations are doing.

If your foundations are strong, and you’ve built something healthy on them, then all will be well. If not, you will get clear signs that it’s time to either strengthen and improve them, or let go as easefully as possible while something you’ve built comes tumbling down - in which case know that Venus is clearing the way for something more in alignment with your soul’s true worth and desires. It's time to completely re-evaluate any values you hold, and find out whether they are the natural values of your soul - or outdated values no longer serving you.

30 July – Full Moon Aquarius
This full moon, give yourself permission to let out your inner Aquarian – think crazy, unconventional, spontaneous. Take a walk on the wild side especially if you’ve been running on the routine treadmill for a while. You might feel like breaking free from some rut, but before you scream “I quit” at the boss go do something that gives you a sense of freedom – that’s what you’re really looking for. Anything that feels confining or restrictive right now is going to feel extra tight, so it’s a good time to address it and do something about it!

Hi all,

For those of you who aren’t in Sydney (or aren’t within a few hundred kilometers), we just experienced a lashing of a storm – with rain and winds unlike anything we’ve had in over 30 years. On a physical level it caused much chaos including the loss of several lives. On a physical level it also caused much confusion with many saying: “We need the rain but we didn’t want it to come in this way!” And “Why didn’t more of it fall into the catchment areas?” We are conflicted internally and thus this conflict manifested externally. Australians are praying for rain but our newsmedia and weather forecasters say “get set for the weather to worsen” any time rain is forecast. As soon as it starts to rain we wish it away and pray for blue skies again, all the while saying “Well, we do need the rain” somewhat reluctantly. We are sending major mixed messages to the rain gods!! We need to start blessing the weather every day, whatever it brings. We need to trust that as we bless the Earth and trust in the Divine, we will receive plentiful rains in the right areas along with plentiful days of blue skies and sunshine. We can all do our bit by every day just saying thank you: to the sunshine, to the rains, to the winds, to the earth. Appreciation creates miracles.

On a non-physical level the storm was the energetic manifestation of a great cleansing and shifting that swept through the area, clearing much that needed to be released within our individual and collective energies. As a result many people experienced deep healing surges, a feeling of renewal and clarity, increased creativity and flashes of insight about the direction their soul is calling them toward. No matter where on the planet you live, the opening that occurred created yet another crack between worlds allowing you to get more of a glimpse, and take more of a step forward, into the new reality that is now waiting for us. Our new reality is not some etheric world that exists as a visionary ideal. It is the next chapter of humanity’s evolution that is already being created right now. You are creating it right now, just by being your true self. That’s all you need to do.

Close your eyes, take a few deep breaths, and focus on your heart chakra where it’s easiest to feel your true self or true essence. What does your true essence feel like? Guess what? Your true essence already lives in this new reality. Your true essence is just waiting for your mind to catch up to where your heart and spirit already is. Connecting with your true essence gives you access to your own inner navigation system complete with map and compass. Your feelings, your gut instincts, your passion, the things that give you joy, the synchronicities that come into your life, all of these are the many ways in which your essence is guiding you. Ask your true essence to align your body and mind with the reality of your heart and spirit, and trust yourself to follow this guidance. Now is the time.

Oprah speaks to Esther Hicks: The Secret behind the Secret

If you've watched The Secret you've probably heard the controversy about the involvement (or rather no longer involvement) of Esther and Jerry Hicks and Abraham, authors of the best selling book The Law of Attraction. In this series of revealing interviews Oprah talks to Esther and Abraham on Oprah's XM Radio Show to get the real story. P.S Go Oprah for giving Abraham some air-time, (Abraham are a group of spiritual teachers, currently in spirit). The fact they are currently in spirit hasn't allowed too much media exposure thus far so Oprah is really breaking some ground here, as she does. I love her!!

1 June – Full Moon Sagittarius

This months kicks off with a full moon in Sagittarius, igniting any dormant desires for adventure and the exploration of new possibilities. If you feel like you’ve been stuck in a rut for too long you might feel like breaking free right now and unleashing your inner free spirit. This is a good time to find out the answer to the following: “If I could do anything I wanted I would ……..” While your dream may be just a dream for now, by giving it a voice and imagining it as a vision you give it life; to inspire you, guide you, or be manifested by you.

14 June – 10 July Mercury Retrograde Cancer

Mercury Mercury where art thou Mercury? Mercury doesn’t actually go anywhere least of all backwards during a retrograde, it just appears to fall behind as Earth momentarily overtakes it on the cosmic super highway. But in a prime example of the theory that perception creates reality every Mercury Retrograde triggers all kinds of communication reversals – and this isn’t a bad thing. Computers crash so that you can update them, drafts of documents are reviewed so you can improve them, relationships are revisited so that you can heal old wounds or create new healthier bonds. It’s a time of briefly going backward so that in the long-term you can go forward in a much better way, and that’s a good thing. Look to your natal chart to see where the first 11 degrees of Cancer are for you, and which house they sit in. This is the life area that will most likely be affected by this retrograde period. 15 June – New Moon Gemini

This will be interesting. Just as the planet of communication starts its retrograde cycle, we have a New Moon in the sign of communication . This is like a double whammy hint to get our communications with others clear. This month double check things before signing, re-read documents, and especially think before you speak. Don’t gossip about others, it will likely get back to the person you’re talking about. (This is a good piece of advice to live by anyway). You might need to repeat conversations because you were misunderstood or not heard the first time around. It’s a good time to reflect on how you are coming across when you interact with others be it with friends, colleagues or the public. Are people receiving one message while your intention is totally something different? If this is true, ask a trusted friend what they notice about you that you may not realize yourself.

24 June – 24 November Uranus Retrograde 18 degrees Pisces

Uranus is crazy and unpredictable at the best of times, let alone the moments when it turns to go retrograde or direct. If you have any planets at 18 degrees Pisces or Virgo or within a few degrees of this, hold on to your hats. Think Wizard of Oz when Dorothy’s house gets picked up by the tornado and she lands at the beginning of the yellow brick road, surrounded by munchkins. “We’re not in Kansas anymore Toto” says Dorothy. So too, you will be looking around at your life any moment now knowing exactly what she was talking about. Just like in the Wizard of Oz the whole point of Uranus turns and transits is to get you from one reality to another, so that you can follow the yellow brick road (your true path), until finally you realize that the power to go home (via clicking your red shoes) was something you always had within you. A million self-help books and workshops abound and really we can get almost all the info we need just from watching this decades old film classic. Go watch it again and you’ll see what I mean.

30 June – Full Moon Capricorn

“Blue Moon, You saw me standing alone; Without a dream in my heart, Without a love of my own. Blue Moon, You know just what I was there for, You heard me saying a prayer for, Someone I really could care for.” So sang Frank Sinatra, Elvis, Ella Fitzgerald among many, many others. This song has never faded since it was originally written by Richard Rodgers and Lorenz Hart in 1934. (Interestingly, the Wizard of Oz was filmed in 1939. What’s with the 1930’s theme this month?!) Lots of folklore is around about where the term blue moon came from, but for now let’s stick with the idea that it represents those rare months that hold two full moons, as is the case this June. The lyrics above will have a different meaning for every person reading them this month, so just take them in, say a prayer, and see what happens.
