December 2008 - The Year that Was

As 2008 draws to a close many of us will look back on it as the Year that Was. The year that was a turning point from our old reality to the new. The year that we finally let go of so many old beliefs and patterns that we’d been chipping away at for years (or lifetimes). The year that we stepped out from our fears and jumped into the beckoning unknown, because not jumping was becoming more uncomfortable than jumping.
It was the year that many of us finally realised that our higher self was not just a concept, but the higher version of who we really are, already existing right now in the higher dimensions, guiding us in every single moment, calling us constantly ‘this way this way’, holding the vision for us of our best possible selves and lives, and not giving one iota of notice to anything other than that. Our higher self WANTS us to be our best possible self, and live our best possible life, and it was the year to say “Enough! I am going to stop fighting my own best self and go with the flow already!!”
It was the year many of us decided to vote our ‘other self’ off the island, the part of us that voiced constant doubt, fear, ‘but how’, ‘what if’, ‘i can’t’, and other self-sabotaging concepts that will soon sound like the most crazy, foreign concepts ever to indulge in. Why would you indulge in thoughts and feelings that don’t FEEL good? Why did we? It doesn’t matter anymore, those days are falling fast behind us.
For many of us our faith in everything we have believed in was put to the test. So you think you create your own reality? You truly believe in the Law of Attraction? You really believe everything you need will come to you? Okay, then. Do you believe these things only when you have lots of money in the bank, a great job, a wonderful relationship and a beautiful home, or do you start panicking when things start going a little pear-shaped? Do you really believe in these things or do you still have old subconscious fears lurking that ask “What if the money runs out? What if I lose this great job/relationship?” This was the year to clear all the cobwebs to ensure that a) we always have all that we need and b) we know that we will always have everything we need and there is truly no such thing as abundance running out or losing anything you truly need.
A lot of people I know, myself included, have lived with the knowing for many, many years that the universe will always provide for us. We have visions about things we want to manifest and create and for the most part they eventually come to be. We may not always have a large amount of direct income from our work, but we are always financially supported usually in such generous ways, with unexpected sums of money coming to us when we most need it, or other forms of abundance coming in other ways, again when we need it. However, something unusual happened this year to a lot of people I know, myself included. The bank account went down, and it kept going down! Now usually this is no cause for concern because eventually once it hits a certain point something miraculous happens and up it goes again. But this time, it just kept plummeting!
Now, as many of you know, my partner Christian and I have decided to be nomads for a while. Technology has made it possible to live and work unattached to any one geographical location, so we are living the life of our dreams wherever we feel like. We have placed our trust and faith in our higher selves, knowing that they will never guide us astray. Financially we started with a healthy amount, but all of a sudden several things happened at once. The economy buckled, the Australian dollar and stock market crashed, and all of a sudden here we were in the US, with a one way ticket to Chile planning to travel through South America for a while with a bank account going south fast. We had a night of feeling like crap, before we picked ourselves up and made a decision. We either believe in what we believe in, all the way, or we might as well go home and say to everyone well we tried, but hey the law of attraction just didn’t work for us, at some point the luck’s gotta run out! Well there was no way we were going to do that, because we just didn’t believe that it does run out! (Although in our deep subconscious recesses maybe parts of us did fear this, and here was an opportunity to clear that out!!)
Sure, it may seem crazy to some people, to have a few hundred dollars in your account and a one way ticket to Chile, to just keep going, but that’s exactly what we decided to do! How could I ever write about this or speak about it or give sessions to people asking them to take leaps of faith unless I myself lived it and breathed it 100%? I have always lived it and breathed it, and to stop now, just because of a mere financial number in my bank account, just didn’t feel right. What is more real to me, a number in an account, or Spirit and the Universe and my higher self and guides? I had to keep going.
First thing, we had to make a total renewed commitment to high vibrating, postitive thoughts only! No more snippets of fear, doubt, worry or ‘but how, or ‘what if’s’. We had to make a total commitment to our higher selves and did a beautiful exercise on the California Coast, writing a send off to our old selves thanking them for serving us, but it was now time for us to align with our new, higher selves, fully and truly and wholly. We made promises to our higher selves, that we would no longer fight them, and instead surrender to them, allowing them to take us to all that we needed and deserved. It felt liberating!
From that moment there was a very real shift in the air. We just kept holding the picture of what we wanted – specifically to keep travelling, and we didn’t waver from that. Magic and miracles continued to unfold, just as they have been this whole trip, yet in an ever more amazing way. We came across the most luxurious hotel rooms for half the price we would usually pay for a standard one. We were invited to beautiful and inspiring events and places that helped keep our vibration high. Our bank account was still a little what the, but strangely looking at the number $100 felt like looking at $1000 or $100 000, the number was iirelevant, it was this overwhelming feeling of faith in abundance that prevailed. One day we went for a walk and saw the word Believe on someone’s roof, all decked out in Christmas lights. Later that day I opened a card in a gift shop, it lit up with coloured lights inside and said Believe. We walked through the mall a few minutes later and passed a woman with a huge red bag that said Believe. We got the message.
I got further messages during meditation and journalling, about the spiritual bank account that ALL of us have access to. It is limitless and will always provide you with all you need. It is real. I wrote a list of upcoming bills and expenses that would be coming up in the next week, and was very specific with what I needed money for and the amount needed. I didn’t come from a place of lack, I wrote the list as if it was a done deal eg I now withdraw $125 from my account for the internet, thank you Verizon so much for making it possible for us to have access to the world every day. I attached a feeling of deep gratitude and appreciation for everything I would be paying, as that’s how I truly feel about everything I give out money for. Once I’d written my list, it added up to quite a large amount, that we needed within the week. Something inside me just knew it would be okay, I had a sense of complete faith and calm and had done a very clear meditation giving myself to the keys to my spiritual bank. I recommend you do the same.
The day before we needed the money, we just affirmed that the money was coming. To do anything else would be to say ‘we don’t really believe’ and did we need any more signs that believing was the way to go! That evening we got an unexpected gift deposited into our bank account, a very generous ‘early’ Christmas present that was for the exact amount we needed. We hadn’t told anyone that we needed it, so it was truly for us a sign (yes another one) that Ask, Believe, Receive, is true is true is true. We continue to say thank you every morning and night (and countless times during the day) for all we have and all we desire for our future and I can't recommend this enough. We always ask that all things come in a good way, and I suggest you do too. (You have probably heard of stories like the man who asked for money and got a retrenchment pay out or the woman who asked for freedom and her husband left her - SO ask that what you ask for comes in a GOOD way!)
It is easy to believe in abundance when you have it, but it is truly a vibrational challenge to believe in it when physically your bank account is saying other things! I know that many people are in this ‘challenging’ situation this Christmas, but I invite you to take this challenge and turn it into an opportunity. Decide that you believe in Spirit and the Universe and your guides and higher self (and whoever else you believe in) MORE than you believe in numbers in an account. Visualise what you need. See yourself wrapping and giving presents. Feel yourself into joy and happiness, knowing everything will be okay. For the miracle can’t happen from a place of lack and fear, it just can’t. (In fact these kind of 'not feeling good' emotions are a good sign that you are not in that moment connected to what your higher self wants for you). Give yourself the keys to your spiritual bank account and align completely and wholly with your higher self. Say goodbye to your old self and old thoughts and fears, because they can’t work anymore with what you want in your new reality.
Many people have told us that we are lucky to be on this travelling adventure, and we are truly blessed. Yet we are not doing anything that you can’t be doing too. It is not everyone’s dream to live life in this nomadic way, but everyone does have a dream, so your job is to work out what yours is. Because 2009 is truly going to be the year where all our dreams can and will start coming true, and the only thing stopping anyone now will be their own old self. So leave your old self behind in 2008 (farewell them with much love) and give yourself permission to have a great life. To live your dreams, and be happy and prosperous and abundant and anything else you truly want.

Anything is Possible – Yes We Can!
I am here in Seattle, USA and what a time to be here! I can hardly believe what is happening, even though I have imagined it, dreamt it, visioned it, been told by my inner knowing for my whole life that it would happen, still I feel I have woken up in the middle of my dream, only to find it is real after all. All I – and we – have ever imagined, visioned, felt to be true, hoped will be – is and will be, and in one night Obama with his win and his words has truly created a global energetic shift in consciousness, with everyone thinking the same thing: anything is possible!!!
All of us who have been awake and conscious of all that is going on around the world, knowing the unique potential and opportunity we have at this time to create a new world, have felt despair at times. Many have asked: will things ever shift in a positive direction on a mass, mainstream level? We have been told over and over again: not in our lifetime. I refused to believe this, and not just because of an inner knowing, but because the Earth and our old dysfunctional economic, environmental, social, political and health structures literally could not be sustained for much longer. We have been watching things collapse and crumble right before our eyes, and so it has not been a matter of whether things will shift, things are shifting, the question became, in which way will they shift? Which path will we as a people choose? The path of Destruction or Transformation? I believed the latter, I felt the latter, but I also knew it all depended on the outcome of last night’s election. After all, we as a humanity always have free will and choice, and the final decision would be made by the energy of the collective majority. What do the collective majority want? Are enough of us awake and conscious and ready for change? We dared to hope....but we couldn’t be sure....until now. Obama’s win last night answered our questions. If you have nearly given up, if you have been in any doubt, if you have let yourself slip into apathy – it is understandable. But it is time to get up! We have been given a second wind and new energy, and it’s time to get to work!
There is a wave of hope moving through the US today, and the world. Obama has instilled hope in all those who believed there was no hope left. He has given fresh energy to all those who have worked tirelessly for change for many years and were getting weary. He has shifted the global collective consciousness from fear, doubt and despair, to hope, faith and the feeling we have just entered the birth of a new world as we unite in the words: Anything Is Possible.
Yes it will take work. No it won't happen overnight. But it will happen. The people have spoken! They want change, they are ready for change, and they stood in the rain for three hours yesterday to say enough is enough! Yesterday as I watched them through the television screen, lining up in city after city, so determined to play their part in making a difference, knowing that this time it was different, knowing that the President they chose now will determine which way we go as a world over the next four years, I said thank you, and my heart was full of gratitude. Thank you to all those people, because the future of the world was quite literally in the hands of the US people yesterday. Climate change, the war in Iraq, global diplomacy and world peace, the economy, all of these issues that affect all humanity, regardless of the political party, race or country you belong to, can now be addressed in a positive way guided by an intelligent, visionary leader.
The media was on top of things this time. CNN had a voting hotline set up to call immediately if you encountered problems while trying to cast your vote. Nothing was going to stop the course of justice and the democratic process this time. Nothing will stop the will of the people this time. I wrote in my book A New Chapter that the only reason those in power have taken the world in a direction that isn’t serving us, is because on some level we let them. I wrote that it is time now to take our power back, and play our part in taking this world in a new direction, one based on unity and what is good for all, not good for some. Today we the people have taken back our power. We have said yes to playing our part in creating this new world, writing our page in our new chapter, making sure it is a fabulous new chapter, knowing your page counts! It is a good day.

Out with the Old...Thanks for the New
If you have felt like the world is on the brink of major collapse over the last couple of weeks, watching as the economy slides down faster than a building demolition with similar chaotic aftermath, you would be right. The good news is, just like any demolition, it is happening for a good reason, there is a great divine plan guiding the fall, and the construction crew for the new world being built in its place has already been hard at work for years.
Why do we demolish buildings? Safety is often a factor. The structure and foundation of the building can no longer support or sustain itself, putting all those people living or working inside it at risk. Outdated design is another factor. The old has to fall to make way for a more modern version, one that is more eco-friendly, with greater consideration to the health and wellbeing of its occupants.
So too, this is what’s happening to our world and right now we are well and truly living with two worlds overlapping – the old and the new. Some people are still stuck in the Old, scrambling to hold on to what has always been to them solid reality, even while it comes crashing down around them. Others have undergone their share of trials and tribulations and are safely in the New, setting up communities, businesses, schools, relationships, media and other systems that are in alignment with the higher vibration our Earth is rapidly moving into. Many have one foot in one reality, and one foot in the other, and this is the hardest place of all to be. They see the New in front of them, but keep glancing back at the Old, wondering which one is truly the ‘real’ world, wondering which will offer them the shelter and support they need with both worlds making promises of safe harbour. They are drawn to the New but are scared to take the leap into it as it requires letting go of so much that is known and familiar. Others desperately want the New but can’t quite work out the logistics of how to make the leap. Yet the leap will come, it has to. The bridge between worlds is getting shaky and we can all feel that we need to make a choice, fast.
If you need helping taking the leap, here’s mainly what you need: Trust that there are engineers of the highest calibre helping you through this transition. Know you will be okay even with no evidence. Have a vision of what you want your life and world to look like and believe it is there waiting for you, even if you have no idea how it will happen. Sounds too much like living in lala land? Well of course it does. We have been led to believe that reality is reality, and our dreams are just dreams. Guess what. Our reality has been a cloudy, foggy dream, and our dreams are like beacons of light guiding the way to our true reality. The ‘awakening’ that people refer to is the awakening from the foggy dream, awakening to who we really are, awakening to a greater reality than the one we have previously known.
Triggering this awakening is Earth’s shift into a higher vibration, and just like our move from analogue to digital television we can either shift with her or get left behind. Anything built on a non-sustainable foundation, out of harmony with the higher vibrations, will no longer work. The plugs are being pulled out of the walls and there is less and less energy every day available for them on this planet. Oil and water can’t mix, and we are quickly discovering which is which. What does this mean? The economic disaster we are currently seeing is a good example. Greed and corruption have been holding up our global economy, with giant financial institutions growing at the expense of the ordinary person and their family. The collapse of these institutions will increasingly expose all that has been hidden underneath their bulging carpets, and this is ultimately a good thing. Not great is the fact that millions of people are now facing losses of their homes, jobs and often relationships and health as the domino effect spirals into all life areas.
So does this mean the divine plan forgot to account for all the people who’d end up suffering as a result of this demolition process? No. It is simply a time when we all have to re-consider and re-view that which is important to us, and what we were having to do to get what we thought we needed. Is working 16 hours a day just to pay the interest on your mortgage really the best use of your time here on Earth? Is the excessive consumerism we in the Western world are accustomed to really worth the stress it is causing emotionally, socially and environmentally? These are the kinds of questions we are going to have to start asking ourselves.
I am all for abundance, but I don’t agree with some of the ideas being sprouted among some of the supposedly conscious community that suggest we are all meant to be driving Ferrari’s and sleeping on a bed of money. Abundance, as I feel it and live it, is knowing we are always taken care of and provided for. Abundance can come in the form of money, but it also comes in the form of a helping hand when you need it, kind words, a generous gift, a wonderful relationship, great health, living a life that feels good for you.
Appreciation creates Abundance. When you look at the world with new eyes and a new perspective, you automatically shift into the higher vibrations of the new reality, regardless of the figure in your bank account. When you say thank you for whatever you do have, be it a warm bed to sleep in at night, good friends, or a view of the sunshine, you instantly shift your energy into an abundance vibration, and truly everything you need comes to you. Someone recently said to me “You may not get all you want, but you will always get all you need” and it is true.
A couple of weeks ago the indicator lights on our rental car stopped working. It turned out to be this huge electrical problem and so we had to drive the car back from Phoenix to South Dakota, completely re-routing our trip (indicator lights not working, change of direction needed, yes yes I got it). Well, as it turns out my uncle in Phoenix had a car in his garage that he hadn’t driven for a year so he has lent that to us for the rest of our trip. My friend in Canada is flying back to Australia earlier than expected so instead of missing her as we would have, had we stuck to our original route, we are on the way to visit her this coming week. Weather wise we will now be driving down the west coast in November, rather than up, going into warmer weather rather than colder. The ‘problem’ was a huge blessing in disguise. We give thanks nightly for the right guidance and this is one example where our angels stepped in to turn us in a direction more perfect for us. Now is the time when we need to remember to appreciate the little things – which are actually big things. Love. Family. Connection. Helping out your neighbours and friends. Thank you are two of the most powerful words in the universe for helping you through these times, out of the old and into the new.

Ladybugs and Fearless Faith
“Build it and they will come”. This was the main message carried by the Kevin Costner movie Field of Dreams and it definitely is the theme of the moment in our life movie. Everywhere you look, from The Secret to Esther & Jerry Hicks and Abraham’s Law of Attraction books and dvds, we are being reminded that not only do we create our own reality, but our ideal reality is already existent right in this very moment. All we have to do is bridge the gap between our perceived ‘here’ and ‘there’. What bridges the gap? Moving step by step up the emotional ladder, from frustration to hope to excitement, (well I’ve skipped a few rungs there but you get my drift) until we get to the holy grail of complete and total faith that whatever we have projected onto our mental movie screen will manifest, must manifest, in our physical reality.
Just in case I was having any trouble fully embodying this concept, I have been bombarded by signs and examples lately urging me and encouraging me to believe it, live it, and surrender to it fully without question.
I was given a book recently called The Game of Life and How to Play It by Florence Scovel Shinn. It is a tiny little book, written in 1925, but carrying the same messages we are just starting to grasp on a mass level: see something in your mind, believe it to be so, and it must be so. Florence was an avant-garde metaphysician who shared this message with all of her clients. One woman felt she couldn’t afford Christmas presents that year. Florence advised her to buy the Christmas wrapping paper, with total faith and expectation that presents would come to fill them. She said to let go of even an ounce of worry or doubt that this wouldn’t happen. This was important. Total Faith. Sure enough an unexpected sum of money came to this woman a couple of days before Christmas and she was able to buy presents.
Another woman was in a shop when her child asked for a small toy. The woman said ‘No we can’t afford that’, walked away and then remembered what Florence had told her: That God (the Divine/Universe/Spirit/whatever your preferred name for Source) was her eternal and abundant Supply and would always provide all she needed. She realised she was buying into fear and a lack mentality so she turned right back around and bought the toy. On the way home from the shop she found on the ground the exact amount of money she had paid for the toy!
Florence reminds us that you cannot attract anything beyond which your mind has limits around. For example if deep down you really don’t believe you can possibly attract a Ferrari, well you probably won’t. It also may mean that deep down, a Ferrari is not so important for your soul anyway. She asks us to place special attention on those images that flit through our mind regularly, the book we want to write, the home we want to live in, the trip we want to take, the move we want to make, those things that our heart truly yearns for are the things that are there/here waiting for us.
I recommend this book to everyone.
One day last week, after my daily meditation that Christian and I have recently started to do, I was reading this book, and realized how it applied to my own life. Here we are in the US, with plans to travel through Mexico, Central and South America as well, with a return ticket dated sometime in 2009, having gone on complete faith that somehow this would be made possible, especially as far as finances go. The return ticket with a date far beyond any date a logical person would have chosen is our sign of faith to the Universe that we will be travelling for a long time so the Universe is responding by, one day at a time, making it possible.
I walked outside and ended up next to a little bush. On a leaf was a beautiful lady bug. Hmm, I thought, that feels like a good sign of something. I went inside to start some work for the day, and opened up a bag where I keep a lot of my computer gear. I reached in to get a particular CD I needed and felt my hand touch a tiny plastic ziplock bag. I pulled it out and to my amazement saw it contained a small, wooden lady bug! I have no idea how it got there. Curious as ever, I looked up the meaning of ladybug (thank you Google) and saw that it meant: wishes coming true, good luck, fearless faith with the expectation of receiving everything you desire. Indeed, a good sign.
I thought of that movie Under the Tuscan Sun, when the wildly exuberant forever youthful Katherine says to Frances “When I was a little girl, I spent all afternoon in the grass looking for ladybugs. Eventually I’d fall asleep in the sun and forget about them. When I woke up, I was covered in them.”
That afternoon I read an article in the launch issue of Empower Magazine about a couple who had tried everything without success to become pregnant. They got to the point where they surrendered to the possibility that they may be spending the rest of their lives alone with their dogs, yet still some unknown force compelled them to buy a 4 bedroom house. I believe their dream for a family was still alive and well in their hearts thus leading to the purchase of a family home. Three months after they moved in, the woman fell pregnant naturally.
Make clear your desired need, making sure to ask for ‘the right job/ home/ relationship/amount of money/situation to come in the most right and perfect way’, then let go of your grasp on the how, who and when. Frances Scovel Shinn keeps re-iterating that.
Just when I thought the messages of the day were done, having come loud and clear, the grand-daughter of the person we are staying with said: “I’m going to sit down and watch a movie, wanna watch?” “What are you watching,” I asked? “Under the Tuscan Sun” she replied, knowing nothing about the ladybug themed day I’d had. Of course she was watching Under the Tuscan Sun!
The movie is about Frances, a recently divorced woman who finds herself unexpectedly in Tuscany, then spontaneously buys an old, large house which she has to completely renovate. One day she has an emotional release in front of her supportive realtor, blurting out that she must be the stupidest woman in the world, buying a house ‘For a life that I don’t even have.” He asks her why she did it then and she replied ‘because I still want things. I want a wedding in this house. I want a family in this house.’ He tells her a story: “Signora, between Austria and Italy, there is a section of the Alps called the Semmering. The Universe right now is trying so hard to get us to get this message. It is not a new message, but perhaps it is a new thing that more of us than ever before are ready to hear it, to believe it, to live it.
My day ended with a sense of awe and peace. Just before I went to bed I checked my Facebook, as you do. A friend had sent me a Ladybug.

Ladybugs and Fearless Faith
“Build it and they will come”. This was the main message carried by the Kevin Costner movie Field of Dreams and it definitely is the theme of the moment in our life movie. Everywhere you look, from The Secret to Esther & Jerry Hicks and Abraham’s Law of Attraction books and dvds, we are being reminded that not only do we create our own reality, but our ideal reality is already existent right in this very moment. All we have to do is bridge the gap between our perceived ‘here’ and ‘there’. What bridges the gap? Moving step by step up the emotional ladder, from frustration to hope to excitement, (well I’ve skipped a few rungs there but you get my drift) until we get to the holy grail of complete and total faith that whatever we have projected onto our mental movie screen will manifest, must manifest, in our physical reality.
Just in case I was having any trouble fully embodying this concept, I have been bombarded by signs and examples lately urging me and encouraging me to believe it, live it, and surrender to it fully without question.
I was given a book recently called The Game of Life and How to Play It by Florence Scovel Shinn. It is a tiny little book, written in 1925, but carrying the same messages we are just starting to grasp on a mass level: see something in your mind, believe it to be so, and it must be so. Florence was an avant-garde metaphysician who shared this message with all of her clients. One woman felt she couldn’t afford Christmas presents that year. Florence advised her to buy the Christmas wrapping paper, with total faith and expectation that presents would come to fill them. She said to let go of even an ounce of worry or doubt that this wouldn’t happen. This was important. Total Faith. Sure enough an unexpected sum of money came to this woman a couple of days before Christmas and she was able to buy presents.
Another woman was in a shop when her child asked for a small toy. The woman said ‘No we can’t afford that’, walked away and then remembered what Florence had told her: That God (the Divine/Universe/Spirit/whatever your preferred name for Source) was her eternal and abundant Supply and would always provide all she needed. She realised she was buying into fear and a lack mentality so she turned right back around and bought the toy. On the way home from the shop she found on the ground the exact amount of money she had paid for the toy!
Florence reminds us that you cannot attract anything beyond which your mind has limits around. For example if deep down you really don’t believe you can possibly attract a Ferrari, well you probably won’t. It also may mean that deep down, a Ferrari is not so important for your soul anyway. She asks us to place special attention on those images that flit through our mind regularly, the book we want to write, the home we want to live in, the trip we want to take, the move we want to make, those things that our heart truly yearns for are the things that are there/here waiting for us.
I recommend this book to everyone.
One day last week, after my daily meditation that Christian and I have recently started to do, I was reading this book, and realized how it applied to my own life. Here we are in the US, with plans to travel through Mexico, Central and South America as well, with a return ticket dated sometime in 2009, having gone on complete faith that somehow this would be made possible, especially as far as finances go. The return ticket with a date far beyond any date a logical person would have chosen is our sign of faith to the Universe that we will be travelling for a long time so the Universe is responding by, one day at a time, making it possible.
I walked outside and ended up next to a little bush. On a leaf was a beautiful lady bug. Hmm, I thought, that feels like a good sign of something. I went inside to start some work for the day, and opened up a bag where I keep a lot of my computer gear. I reached in to get a particular CD I needed and felt my hand touch a tiny plastic ziplock bag. I pulled it out and to my amazement saw it contained a small, wooden lady bug! I have no idea how it got there. Curious as ever, I looked up the meaning of ladybug (thank you Google) and saw that it meant: wishes coming true, good luck, fearless faith with the expectation of receiving everything you desire. Indeed, a good sign.
I thought of that movie Under the Tuscan Sun, when the wildly exuberant forever youthful Katherine says to Frances “When I was a little girl, I spent all afternoon in the grass looking for ladybugs. Eventually I’d fall asleep in the sun and forget about them. When I woke up, I was covered in them.”
That afternoon I read an article in the launch issue of Empower Magazine about a couple who had tried everything without success to become pregnant. They got to the point where they surrendered to the possibility that they may be spending the rest of their lives alone with their dogs, yet still some unknown force compelled them to buy a 4 bedroom house. I believe their dream for a family was still alive and well in their hearts thus leading to the purchase of a family home. Three months after they moved in, the woman fell pregnant naturally.
Make clear your desired need, making sure to ask for ‘the right job/ home/ relationship/amount of money/situation to come in the most right and perfect way’, then let go of your grasp on the how, who and when. Frances Scovel Shinn keeps re-iterating that.
Just when I thought the messages of the day were done, having come loud and clear, the grand-daughter of the person we are staying with said: “I’m going to sit down and watch a movie, wanna watch?” “What are you watching,” I asked? “Under the Tuscan Sun” she replied, knowing nothing about the ladybug themed day I’d had. Of course she was watching Under the Tuscan Sun!
The movie is about Frances, a recently divorced woman who finds herself unexpectedly in Tuscany, then spontaneously buys an old, large house which she has to completely renovate. One day she has an emotional release in front of her supportive realtor, blurting out that she must be the stupidest woman in the world, buying a house ‘For a life that I don’t even have.” He asks her why she did it then and she replied ‘because I still want things. I want a wedding in this house. I want a family in this house.’ He tells her a story: “Signora, between Austria and Italy, there is a section of the Alps called the Semmering. It is an impossibly steep, very high part of the mountains. They built a train track over these Alps to connect Vienna and Venice. Often people assume that because they are speaking the words "I want more money," they are speaking positively about money. But when you are speaking of money (or anything) and you are feeling fear or discomfort as you speak, you are not speaking of the subject of money, but instead you are speaking of the subject of not enough money. And the difference is very important, because the first statement brings money and the second holds it away.
It is of value for you to become aware of how you are really thinking and, more important, feeling about money. If you are thinking or saying things
like: "Oh, that is a very beautiful thing -- but I cannot afford it," you are not in a vibrational position to allow in the abundance you desire. The feeling of disappointment that is present as you acknowledge that you cannot afford it is your indicator that the balance of your thought is pointed more toward the lack of your desire than toward the desire itself. The negative emotion that you feel as you acknowledge that you cannot afford something that you want is one way of understanding the balance of your thoughts, and the amount of abundance that you are actually experiencing is another way of knowing.

August Monthly Visions: Get out of your own Way!
I have had the most inspiring week here in LA with the same message being driven home to me over and over again: Let your self have a great life and get out of your self’s way as it moves quite naturally toward this!
On Wednesday we were feeling drawn to go to the Agape centre where Michael Bernard Beckwith (from The Secret) does a service each week. We weren’t sure he’d be there as we’d heard he was due in Hawaii for an event the next day. We’d also been advised to get there about an hour early as parking was apparently hard to find. It was 6pm by the time we made our way back to the car after an afternoon exploring the colourful Venice Beach, about half an hour away from Agape at that time of day. The pre-service meditation was at 6.45pm. I knew we’d make it there in time, so I just prayed to the angels to please take care of the parking for us. I said we’d need to find one straight away, right outside the centre.
Sure enough, we arrived around 6.35pm and were greeted by a parking usher, pointing us toward a space right next to the centre! We strolled inside and received a program for the evening. Michael Beckwith would be there! Not only was he there, but as he stepped on stage he let us know that tonight would be a very special event as they were filming it to be included as a CD in his new book Spiritual Liberation (Nov 11 2008). There was music, dancers, the launch of his single ‘Energetic Shapeshifter’ and of course plenty of motivational, empowering words from Michael!
This man is one of the most powerful, electric, enlightened speakers I have ever come across. Pure streams of consciousness poured out of him at warp speed, light and love and joy and passion seemed to be bouncing through him into the audience, the energy of ‘anything is possible’ was inescapable. This was not one of those mind-driven motivational talks that give you a hit of feel good only to leave you feeling a bit ‘left hanging’ in the morning. His words were coming from a place of Spirit, a place that my essence recognises as home and as truth.
My spirit and essence was jolted awake and reminded: You are here to be in joy, love, peace, prosperity, fun, passion, greatness, light, creativity and anything else you can imagine. You can be in all those things right now this second because that’s what you are, and that’s what you are in if you let yourself be in it, and the only thing stopping you – or allowing you – to be in these things is your perspective. Change your perspective, it will immediately shift your feelings, and as your feelings shift it is only a matter of time – be it minutes, hours, days or weeks – before your outer reality does a quantum leap shift to meet your new vibration.
I was reminded that whenever we are not in these things the only thing stopping us is our own self – our mind, our thoughts, our ego, our worries, our mental chatter, our what if this or what if that, our but’s, our should’s, our can’ts – I was reminded that it really is as simple as pressing stop or eject on all those energies. They do not serve, they do not help, they are not helpful in any way any more. Let them go.
His dance single Energetic Shapeshifter has a few lines that I love: “You might as well give in and be happy, you might as well give in and be great, you might as well give in and be prosperous, you might as well, you might as well.” We choose our thoughts and our feelings and our experiences every day, so why not choose greatness, happiness, peace, why not? Why do we make it so hard for ourselves?
On the weekend I attended the A Call to Awaken seminar by my friends Story Waters and Lee Harris. You can listen to an interview about it on my radio show, or download the podcast. Story said something that repeated Michael’s message: In these times, the universe is so greatly supporting us and pushing us to awaken that even if we try to resist it will be like running downstairs on an upward moving escalator! We’re still going to awaken. We’re still going to move into our higher selves. So we can do it the hard way – kicking, screaming, resisting, putting in front of us all the reasons why we can’t possibly have the life and reality of our dreams – or we can give in and turn around and let ourselves be taken up the escalator into all the goodness that is awaiting us and that is right here right now if only we open up our eyes and ears and heart and perspective to see, hear and feel it!
My guides keep repeating a message to me: let go of all your fear, doubts and worries, allow yourself the idea that the most wonderful, amazing experience/dream/goal/desire you could possibly imagine can come true/happen/come to you. Allow yourself the idea that it can happen within the next month! Allow yourself the idea that what we have planned for you, if you just let us give it to you, is greater than your wildest imaginations!
This whole experience has been a journey of faith. We packed up our lives in Australia and headed here with no specific plan other than to follow our guidance and go where the wind took us. So far, our itinerary has unfolded before us more full and wonderful than we could have imagined. We have received invitations from friends and friends of friends and people we just met to stay with them whenever we are in their town – which we happen to be going to the next day. Synchronicities are everywhere when you open yourself to the direction your soul is guiding you toward.
Lately, I am also realizing it is meant to be a journey of fun. Story channelled through a brilliant piece of guidance which my own guides have been telling me for a while now: let go of the sense of mission and have fun, enjoy yourself! If working for humanity and the planet gives you joy, then do it. But if it would give you more joy to lie on a beach somewhere, then do that! The message was so strong that we decided to include the clip in the radio interview so you can listen to it yourself. His channelling said that at the end of our lives we are not judged on whether we did enough to help the planet, or if we successfully sorted out our issues. We are asked one question: Did you enjoy your life?
So I am here enjoying my life, and part of my joy is to do this work that I do. I would do it even if I didn’t get paid for it and for many, many years I didn’t get paid, but I did it anyway because I can’t imagine not doing it. I just kept doing it, and the universe has always found a way to support me. So don’t think about doing what you love when you have the money. Do what you love and the abundance will come – in one form or another.
So today ask yourself, are you enjoying your life? What is stopping you from enjoying it? Start with the things you can shift right now: your perspective, your feelings, your inner world. We are not here to be stuck in stagnation or live in a density of our own making and choosing. We are here to create a great life. We are here to enjoy our life. I know that these words can bring up anger in people especially when you feel you are stuck in a life or density not of your choosing. Consider that on some level it is your choosing, and ask yourself what would I have to believe to have chosen this? We cannot make a permanent change in our reality, until we know why we have chosen the one we are currently in. Otherwise we will keep subconsciously choosing it!! So find out what you believe to be possible, what you believe to be true, what you believe to be impossible. Change your beliefs if you feel they are not serving you, unchoose your reality and in the words of Michael Bernard Beckwith start to energetically shapeshift your life!
